The Register
I joined Omaha Central High's student newspaper as a staff writer my sophomore year after taking Introduction to Journalism as a freshman. My junior year, I was promoted to the role of section editor, overseeing the Arts and Culture section in addition to my investigative work. Next year, I will lay out the vision for the news section and oversee production and distribution of the paper's print issues as co-editor-in-chief.

Omaha Documnters
I became a documenter after learning about this transformational program while researching local media organizations for the Register. Documenters is a participatory, civic journalism initiative that trains and pays community members to record public meetings through detailed note-taking and live-tweeting. As part of the program's mission to put every public meeting in Omaha on the record, I document Omaha Public Schools Board of Education meetings.

The Omaha Reader
I joined the staff of the Reader, Nebraska's only nationally recognized alternative, investigative newsmonthly, in May 2023 as an Editorial Intern. Through the experience I will gain in my first professional newsroom, I hope to learn about what it takes to operate a local news outlet and further cultivate my journalistic talents.
